Mission Inn Exhibition

The historic Riverside Mission Inn

Hoyes also has an exhibition at the Riverside Mission Inn,  that opened last month. Brittany DeLaney of La Quinta Arts Foundation shared her experience of visiting this historic establishment with the newly unveiled artwork.

“After enjoying some tasty tacos from the Presidential Lounge, I viewed Bernard Stanley Hoyes’ four watercolor paintings.  His small works invited me to look closer at the details.  I appreciated the contrast of a landscape painting amidst large walls, antique furniture and historic objects throughout the lobby space.   The desert flora and color variations reminded me of some of the plein air paintings [that were] on view at the La Quinta Arts Foundation La Quinta Community Gallery exhibit ‘Desert Plein Air’, which [ran] thru June 3rd, 2016.  One of the six artists work [was] plein air artist Robert Fleming, whose watercolors are surrounded by peaceful desert scenes and blooming cactus.”

Curating Hometown Event for New Cultural District

In addition to the great work Mr. Hoyes is doing in Riverside, he is also finding time to use his talents for revitalizing his own community. The Desert Hot Springs’ upcoming cultural district, The Art Zone, is kicking off this Fall with a music and art event, the “Vortex Festival“, which Hoyes has graciously offered to curate on a volunteer basis.13240142_1684380561824939_9766975314453929_n
